Is there a dog rescue center in the South, IL adopt a Pekingese?
My mother just lost her Pekingese (Lu-Lu) last month after 15 years to have her and she is devastated. I have NEVER seen my mother for a broken heart. At first she said she did not want anothere dog, because no other dog could replace it. Lu-Lu was its sense of camaraderie at home guaranteed. She had asked me this morning if maybe it should get another dog for company found. Lu-Lu had been cremated and his ashes at his home in an urn next to a picture just to show how she felt about her. I think he can help fill the void it feels, so I looked for a rescue center pet and can not find one. She said she would like to have another Pekingese, but also take tshih-zuh one because they are related. Are you aware of any rescue centers in Monroe County, Illinois or know of websites that I browse? I appreciate any information they could provide.
There are plenty of rescue groups out there and a bunch of puppies that need forever homes (especially if they are willing to travel a couple of hours). Petfinder.com is a good place to start ... but here are some others: http://www.animalshelter.org http://www.pekeatzurescue.com http://www.pcfinc.org/ addition, it will be a little more than a disco ... but there is a wonderful partnership called Happy Tails Animal Sanctuary in Columbia Missouri Now have a purebred shihtzu 2 years available for adoption. These guys are amazing - I adopted my pup last one and I can not rave enough of them. Anyway, check out their website: http://www.htsanctuary.com These are just a few out there. Also check the local shelters and pounds. You'd be surprised how it is there and the desperation of these kids need a new home. Good luck and my heart is with her mother. I know how deeply the loss of a pet it can be. We have lost one of our Yorkies 2 years ago on November 14. Buster is forever in our hearts ... as his coffin plate says (which is also sitting on our mantle).
